S. 978 >> WHAT?

Hey guys, it's David.

I just wanted to let you all know about a bill being passed that would make electronic distribution of copyrighted material illegal in the united states. The idea of this bill is to ban pirating of TV shows and movies, but in it's current form, the bill would make it illegal to do any sort of game commentary, karaoke videos and similar material, since all of that is technically copyrighted by various companies. Why have these company's not pushed for this bill before now? PROMOTION. Game manufacturers and developers don't want to make game play and commentary videos illegal because they help with business. In fact, the ONLY people that it would currently help are the movie and TV companies. We need to get the bill re-worded so that while helping the TV and film companies, it doesn't hurt the gaming industry in the process.

Here is a link to send a letter to various government groups to let them know that you do not support the bill in it's current form, and that you want the wording changed.

Here are some additional links for information on the bill.
